Maybe you are ready to get rid of your old silver fillings. Maybe you don't like you discolored teeth. Or maybe your smile needs adjusting. This new dentistry goes beyond just fixing teeth. Its about helping people gain more self confidence by having a wonderful smile. Your image matters and tells your customers and friends that you value your image and expect the best in return. There are several different forms of cosmetic dentistry to give you that "winning smile". Crowns, veneers, bonding and bleaching are all effective methods to varying degrees and price.Cosmetic crowns can cover old, leaking silver fillings. They can also cover fractured and broken teeth. If you have visible fillings when you smile, porcelain crowns can eliminate that metallic look. Crowns are tooth colored to match your existing teeth. They are carefully tinted to match existing teeth. Cost can range from $550 to $800 per tooth.Veneers are around $750 to $2,000 per tooth. But it will reshape your teeth. The dentist usually grinds down your teeth and adds a custom porcelain shell. Most people get the six to ten teeth in their "smile zone" fixed. Then you can have the others bleached. But the bad news ? they usually have to be replaced about every 10 years. Bonding is similar, but uses a plastic resin instead of the porcelain. Dentists have used these to replace chipped teeth. Bonding is done by hand by the dentist and is much cheaper at $300 to $700 per tooth. It can't reshape your teeth like veneers, but it can whiten your teeth similar to bleaching.Bleaching is good choice if you don't need your teeth straightened or reshaped. Peroxide bubbles out some of the stains in the tooth enamel. Your dentist will make a tooth tray for about $200-$500 that allows you to wear and let the peroxide do its trick. Usually you can get your teeth 5 shades whiter. You may have heard of Zoom! or BriteSmile. These are dentist-performed bleaching using special gels that are light activated. This can get your teeth up to 10 shades whiter! But this process can run from $400 to $1200. But it's fast and your done. Before you go to any extremes, it may be beneficial to try the Crest Whitestrips Premium. This may give you an idea of how much change you want before spending the big bucks at the dentist for a professional service. Long ago, they used chlorine as a paste on people's teeth. Looked great, but it ate off all the enamel and subsequent tooth decay set in causing unbearable pain. Thank goodness we have better options. There are several methods to whiten your teeth. These are some ideas on how to get your teeth, not only whiter, but also give you that wining smile you deserve..

The course stressed the use of the volumetric CT Scan instrument for precise 3D location of all anatomical landmarks and allows the placement of implant fixtures with a simple punch technique instead of the more aggressive flap surgery that is now routinely preformed. A number of implants were done on live patients using this method. A second technology, new to the US market, was introduced at the conference. The ANKYLOS implant system from Densply International is the first fixture to provide for bone coverage of all of the threads of the fixture. According to Dr. Carlson, this features leads to cosmetic restorative results that are unheard of with conventional implants systems. The system has 16 years of global clinical data and features what Densply claims is a bacteria-proof implant/abutment conical connection.Dr. Malin practices implant dentistry in LaCrosse, WI where he has developed an implant placement technique that has led to 5 patents pending along with exceptional implant results. He lectures throughout North America on full mouth reconstructions and implant placementDentists from all across the nation attended the conference and received information that is likely to change the way dental implants are placed. That innovation will, in turn, lead to an advance in cosmetic dentistry for those patients with missing teeth. For additional information contact:Dr. Craig Carlson400 North Loop 1604 E.San Antonio, TX 78232210-499-4949.

When it comes to cosmetic dentistry, the average consumer just wants a brighter better smile, but not all dentists are trained to do the best job possible. As outgoing president of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), San Diego dentist Dr. Lawrence (Larry) Addleson wants to influence dental organizations and associations to recognize the importance of credentialing in cosmetic dentistry to set standards so that consumers are better informed and better protected. Next week, Addleson will travel to the AACD's 21st International Scientific Session in Nashville to pass the torch of the presidency of the world's largest cosmetic dental organization. As an accredited member and one of only 39 Fellows of the AACD in the world, Addleson will continue to advocate for standards that will translate to better care for consumers. "Public awareness of the benefits of cosmetic dentistry has increased tremendously in recent years. With clinical advancements, enhancing a person's smile through cosmetic dentistry is in more demand than ever before and patients deserve well-trained practitioners," said Addleson. His goal is to educate consumers on what they need to look for in a cosmetic dentist.Recommendations When Seeking a Cosmetic DentistMake sure your dentist is skilled in cosmetic dentistry. The AACD suggests that you ask for the following items before undergoing treatment. As in any case when considering dental treatment, please consult with your dentist to explore which procedures might be right for you.- Before and After Photos ? Make sure the cases you are reviewing are actual patients of the dentist and not stock photography. - References ? Ask to speak with existing patients of the dentist and get a sense for the quality of care the dentist provides.- Continuing Education - Be certain the dentist is an active AACD member, is accredited by the AACD, and attends continuing education courses to keep up-to-date with the latest techniques in cosmetic dentistry. The AACD is the largest international dental organization dedicated specifically to the art and science of cosmetic dentistry. Founded in 1984, the AACD has over 6800 members in the United States and in more than 50 countries.
